Productive sick day

It's 10:30pm and neither one of us is feeling too hot, so this'll be a quick one, with more to follow once we're closer to 100%. Still reeling from the weekend trip to Puno and Lake Titicaca, we went downtown and found some good deals on things to take to our projects. A household necessity type store and a store specializing in plastics are right next to one another, and when we told them the type of work we were doing and the quantities that we wanted to purchase, they were able to discount the prices a bit for us. For the hospital that Maysa and Jasmine work at, we purchased 3 massive containers of baby wipes, which the hospital doesn't have. They don't even have toilet paper at the hospital, and since the children they work with have special needs, they all wear diapers, and the nurses are cleaning them with moist pieces of cloth. For our rural community project, we began our purchasing. We will be putting together care packages for individual families, as well as taking one big delivery to the school we visited. At the general store, we bought 100 bars of bath soap, 100 bars of dish/laundry soap, and a dozen more tubes of sunscreen for the schoolchildren that we got at a very reasonable price for being in Peru. At the plastics store, we bought the bags for the care packages, 150 notebooks for the school, and tons of pencils and colored pencils. That's all I can remember for the time being. We left the plastics store out of a side door just as most of the downtown kids were getting out of school, so finding a cab was very trying. However, Maysa flagged one down, and with the promise of a few extra soles (about US$1.35), lured him into helping us load the stuff as well, as it was pretty heavy. Even better, on the way home, Maysa recruited him to drive us around to buy the rice, oatmeal, quinoa, powdered milk and other supplies we're buying tomorrow morning, and at a very reasonable cab cost. Tomorrow, in addition to the rest of our bulk purchasing, we need to get in touch with El Alcalde de Yaurisque to arrange when we can go out and make our delivery later this week. Well, we need some recuperative sleep, but we'll have pictures coming and a more detailed update soon.
